What this website collects, why I collect it, and what you can do about it. In plain language.
Last updated
The short version: this site collects what you type into a form, plus basic statistics about visits. I use it to reply to you, send you what you asked for and understand which pages help people. I don't sell your information, and there's no advertising on this site.
Who I am
I'm Karlie Libraro. Access Educational Advocacy is a business name (DBA) of KL Therapy Services, PLLC. When this page says "I" or "me", it means the business. You can reach me at karlie@myaccessadvocacy.com or (804) 420-2273.
What I collect and why
I only get personal information when you choose to send it. You can read every page on this site without filling anything out.
When you contact me
The contact form asks for your first and last name, your email, your phone number (optional), the service you're interested in and a short message. If you clicked a caregiver education topic to get there, the form also sends the name of that topic. I use this to reply to you and to set up the next step, like a free call.
When you ask about sliding-scale pricing
The sliding-scale request on the services page asks for your name, your email, your family size and a household income range. I use it to put together a services agreement that fits your family. I don't ask for proof of income through the website.
When you download a free printable or the pricing guide
These forms ask for your first name, last name and email. I add you to my email list and send you a welcome email with a link to what you asked for. You'll also get occasional tips for IEP and 504 meetings.
When you request a topic
The topic request form asks for your name, your email and the topic you'd like me to write about. I use it to plan new resources and to let you know when yours is ready.
Which forms add you to my email list
The printable library, the pricing guide, the sliding-scale request and the topic request all add your name and email to my email list. The contact form does not. You can unsubscribe anytime (more on that below).
When you visit the site
I use Google Analytics to see things like how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are, what device and browser they use and whether they download a printable or send a form. This helps me figure out which guides are useful. I see these numbers as totals, not as a list of who you are.
The company that hosts the site also keeps standard server logs. These record technical details for each visit, such as your IP address, your browser and the pages you loaded. They're used to keep the site running and secure.
On your own device
Once you sign up for the printable library (or enter the library password), your browser saves a small note in its local storage called
aea-library. It only says the library is unlocked, so your downloads start right away next time. It stays on your device and isn't sent to me. Clearing your
browser's site data removes it.
Services that help me run the site
I'm a small practice, so I use a few outside services. Each one handles your information only to do its job for this site, under its own privacy policy.
- Mailchimp (owned by Intuit) holds my email list and sends the tips emails. Intuit's privacy statement
- EmailJS sends the welcome email with your library link or pricing guide. EmailJS privacy policy
- Google runs Google Analytics. My business email also runs on Google, so your form messages and emails to me are stored there too. Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Amazon Web Services hosts the website (AWS Amplify). It also runs the small form service that turns your contact, sliding-scale and topic request forms into an email and sends it to my inbox through Amazon SES. If a form can't be delivered or looks like spam, that service logs it for up to 30 days so it can be checked. AWS privacy notice
The fonts on this site load from the site itself, not from Google Fonts. The links to Facebook and Instagram are plain links, so those companies don't get anything from this site unless you click through.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics sets a few small cookies in your browser (their names start with _ga) so it can tell new visits from return
visits. Those are the only cookies this site sets. There are no advertising cookies and no ad tracking.
If you'd rather not be counted, Google offers a free Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works the same either way.
Your child's information
This site is for adults. It isn't meant for children, and I don't knowingly collect information from children.
Please don't send your child's records through the website forms. That includes evaluations, IEPs, 504 plans, report cards and medical details. A sentence or two about what's going on is plenty for a first message. When we work together and you're ready to share documents, just ask me for a secure way to send them.
How to unsubscribe
Every email from my list has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you're off the list. You can also email me and I'll remove you. Unsubscribing doesn't lock you out of printables you've already unlocked on your device.
How long I keep it
I keep your information only as long as I need it for the reason you gave it to me, or as long as the law requires. If you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your information, I'll remove it from my list and inbox, except anything I'm required to keep.
Who sees it
I don't sell your information, rent it or share it for advertising. The only people who see it are me and the services listed above, when they're doing their job for this site. I would only share it otherwise if the law required it.
Your choices and requests
You can ask me to:
- tell you what information I have about you
- correct something that's wrong
- delete your information
- take you off my email list
Email karlie@myaccessadvocacy.com with your request and I'll take care of it as soon as I can. I may ask a quick question to make sure the request is really from you.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts collecting something new or uses a different service, I'll update this page and change the date at the top.
Questions
If something here isn't clear, or you have a question about your information, reach out. Email karlie@myaccessadvocacy.com or call (804) 420-2273.
